The Teen After-School Center
(TASC)
|
|
|
The Teen After-School Center (TASC) is a daily afterschool program. The
center is geared towards juveniles in need of additional structure and
assistance beyond the normal probation or parole supervision that
Department of Juvenile Justice provides. The program is funded by the
South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
TASC provides supervision, structured daily activities, service
coordination and resources development for juveniles and their
families.
Individual educational enhancements are also developed for children that
have had academic or social difficulties in mainstream educational
settings.

(1) Enhancing copying skills
(2) Increasing academic, vocational and employability skills
(3) Building on competencies or juveniles and their families

Target Populations
Non-violent juveniles that are at-risk or incarceration, ages 12 to 17.
|
GLEAMNS Program Activities
(1) Recreational Activities (Monday - Wednesday)
(2) Beginners Computer Class (Tuesday thru Thursday)
(3) Homework Assistance (Daily)
(4) Workshops
(5) Field Trips

GLEAMNS has enrolled seventeen (17) youth in the program this year.
Speakers from Greenwood Police Department (on drugs); Army Recruiting
Office (Military Careers); Field Trips to Greenwood Detention Center;
Pizza Inn for treats and one additional trip in June 2009 to the
McCormick Correctional Center.
The program operates Monday thru Thursday.

Resources Commission Incorporated, a community-based organization, is to
